Eight enzymes and proteins from the blood: phosphoglycolate phosphatase, red cell acid phosphatase, glyoxalase 1, esterase D, uridine monophosphate kinase, carbonic anhydrase, post-albumin and post-transferrin 2 were investigated for 190 Kedah-Kelantan cows and 11 progeny bulls. Five of these biochemical markers: glyoxalase 1, uridine monophosphate kinase, carbonic anhydrase, post-transferrin 2 and post-albumin showed electrophoretic variation at polymorphic proportions. A phosphoglycolate phosphatase variant was detected in one of the 41 Droughtmaster cattle that was also analysed.
